Court sequel at Bideford
Frederick Arthur Wilson, a lorry driver of Exeter was summoned for having quit the vehicle in High Street, Bideford without having set the brake so as effectually to prevent two at least of the wheels from revolving.
On the afternoon of 7 June the defendant was in charge of the lorry and stopped outside the Post Office while he went inside. The lorry was facing downhill and the engine was stopped. About three minutes later the lorry moved away and after travelling down the hill for a distance of about 60 feet crashed into Messrs. Chope’s display windows on the opposite side of the road causing approximately £50 of damage.
Wilson was found ‘guilty’ and fined £2.
